Friday Morning Hags
A lovely group of women joined me for a set of five fun sessions in the pottery over a month period. They made, decorated and glazed a variety of pieces using coiling, slab building and pinching in a combination of Friday morning and Tuesday evening sessions.

Finished pieces
The first session was spent preparing the clay and starting to make using their chosen technique.
In the second session, pieces were progressed - leaving the clay to firm up a little allows you to build with more purpose.
In the third session, pieces were completed and decorative items added - coloured slip, sculpted flowers, carving and plant imprints.
The pieces were left to dry for a week, then bis fired to 1,000° C. Oxides, underglazes and glazes can then be applied to the bis ware, then fired once more.
The final firing allows the glazes to work their magic and completed pieces appeared. I think you will agree that for beginner potters - some their first time working with clay - they produced some spectacular results.
Happy customers!
These sessions are very inspiring for me too - I am inspired and learn from my students. I hadn’t made a coiled pot for a long while and started to make my own pot - look what is emerging!
Here is another example of a coil pot I made a while ago. It’s a lovely mindful way to work - incredibly relaxing if you are having a stressful period and need time to reconnect with your thoughts.
